Wet weather and traffic impacted Lance Stroll in qualifying for the 2022 British Grand Prix, with the Canadian securing 20th on the grid for Sunday’s race.

Lance began the final practice session of the weekend on the Medium tyre and completed two short runs before heading back to the pits.

Switching to the Soft tyres, he registered a 1.30.975 to slot into ninth position before dropping down the order to 15th.

Donning a new set of Softs, Lance improved to a 1.29.892 run to end the morning in 16th place.

As the rain set in for Qualifying, Lance took to the track on the Intermediate tyres and placed inside the top 10 in the early stages of the session.

Returning to the pits for a fresh set of Intermediates, he put in his best lap time, a 1.43.430 but was unable to advance any further and will start the British Grand Prix

from 20th.

Lance Stroll – Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One™ Team Driver

“At the end of the session, we tried a new set of Intermediate tyres, but I had a terrible out-lap getting caught in traffic and it was really difficult to generate enough temperature at that point. With only one push-lap at the end of the session, my tyres were not warm enough to be able to put in a respectable qualifying time. I am disappointed to be starting at the back of the grid, but hopefully the weather will improve and we will have a more successful race.”
