Lance began the session by setting a single lap on the Hard, Medium and Soft tyre compounds.
With only 60 minutes of Free Practice, it was important to use the session to gain comfort on the track and learn as much as possible ahead of Sprint Qualifying.
Lance spent much of the session on the Medium tyres before switching to Softs for his final stint.
A Red Flag at the end of the session put an end to running, with Lance finishing the session having gathered data across 21 laps.
Setting a fastest time of 1:29.028, Lance was unfortunately knocked out of the first Sprint Qualifying segment, placing P16 and only just missing out on SQ2.
Rain came down in Miami ahead of the Sprint, resulting in a wet track surface. After an initial formation lap behind the safety car, the starting procedure was suspended and the session was red flagged.
16 laps remained following the Red Flag.
By the end of the first racing lap, Lance had gained several positions and was running in P11
By Lap 11, the track had dried enough for Lance make a pitstop for a dry tyre compound. He rejoined the track in P17 on Mediums.
A few laps later, many other drivers had opted to pit for dry tyres, and Lance was up to P7.
Following an incident involving team-mate Fernando Alonso, the race ended under a Safety Car.
After post-race penalties had been applied, Lance concluded the Sprint in fifth, adding four points to his season tally.
Lance qualified P19 for the Miami Grand Prix after setting a time of 1:27.830. However, following a penalty for Pierre Gasly, Lance would start the race in P18.
More rain hit the track ahead of the Grand Prix, but by the time the race got started, the circuit had dried.
Beginning the race from P18 on the Medium tyre, Lance gained places at the start to take him to P15.
Drops of rain were reported around 18 laps into the race, but it wasn’t enough to warrant a change of tyres.
Lance made his pitstop at the end of Lap 20 and emerged in P18 on the Hards.
He finished the race in P16.
His season will continue on May 16-18 with the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.
