Lance takes 10th and one point in Miami

Lance Stroll finished inside the top 10 at the inaugural Miami Grand Prix despite starting from the pitlane.

After securing his season-best qualifying of 10th, a pre-race fuel temperate issue forced Lance to start from the pitlane.

Lance started the 57-lap race on the Hard compound tyres and by capitalising on early pitstops, made his way into 14th position as he began chasing down the Alpine of Fernando Alonso on lap 16.

By lap 40, Lance had made his way back into the top 10 but was yet to make his mandatory pitstop.

A collision between Pierre Gasly and Lando Norris brought out the Safety Car and Lance seized the opportunity, diving into the pits to switch onto the Medium tyres before re-emerging in 12th.

When racing resumed on lap 46, Lance battled against Kevin Magnussen and was pushed wide by the Dane at Turn Two, knocking him back into 14th.

A collision between Mick Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel moved Lance back into 12th position where he ended the race.

Post-race penalties for Daniel Ricciardo and Alonso promoted Lance into 10th place, allowing him to secure another valuable World Championship point.

“Overall a frustrating afternoon. It was a shame to start from the pit lane but once the race was underway we showed some reasonable pace today. It was quite difficult to overtake off-line, but we made good decisions and put ourselves in a position to finish inside the top 10 by pitting under the Safety Car. I think points could have been on the table, but a bad restart and contact with Kevin [Magnussen] prevented that.”
