Lance ended qualifying in P16 as Formula One prepares for the third F1 Sprint at the São Paulo Grand Prix.

In FP1, Lance ran all three compound tyres in order to focus on his performance going into Qualifying.

Lance put in a 1:10.352 lap time early in the session to place inside the top 10, holding the position and collecting valuable information ahead of the afternoon qualifying session.

In Q1, Lance set a 1:09.956 lap time on his first run to go top of the timings.

As the conditions on track continued to evolve, and lap times began to fall, Lance managed to deliver a 1:09.663 lap time as he worked on the balance of the AMR21.

Despite the improved lap time, the Canadian narrowly missed out on Q2, ending the session in P16 where he will begin the F1 Sprint on Saturday.

“I am disappointed with my qualifying result. Throughout today, I have been struggling with the balance of the car and I think that is reflected in the end result. However, because this weekend features the sprint format, we have a chance to fight forward tomorrow and, if we can make up some ground, we should be able to start in a better position for the race on Sunday.”

FP2 for the São Paulo Grand Prix will get underway at 3 pm GMT on Saturday, November 13.
