Lance ends Thursday in P13 ahead of Formula One’s Monaco Grand Prix as the paddock returns to the Principality for the first time since 2019.

Lance wasted little time getting familiarised with the Monegasque circuit, banking 33 laps of the 3.3km track to put in a 1:14.090 lap time to end the morning session in P11.

For the afternoon’s FP2 session, both Lance and his team-mate Sebastian Vettel ran the first 10 laps of the session on the Medium compound Pirelli tyres before switching to the Soft compound.

Lance was able to deliver a 1:13.195 lap time to place him  P13.  A red flag caused by Mick Schumacher with 10 minutes remaining prevented further laps, but Lance still completed 59 laps on Thursday.

“It is great to be back here in Monaco, especially after the race did not take place last year. I had a lot of fun out there today – building up speed and getting close to the walls. It was very busy on track, with a lot of traffic, and not easy to find free air, which is always a major factor on Saturday and Sunday, too. The sessions went smoothly, giving us lots of information and things to improve before final practice. There is a chance to catch our breath tomorrow with a quiet day, but we still have some engineering meetings to see what ideas we can come up with ahead of qualifying.”

Lance will return to track on Saturday May 22 for FP3 from 11am BST.
