Lance narrowly misses on top 10 on Saturday in Singapore

Lance Stroll narrowly missed out on making Q3 on a weather-disrupted Saturday in Singapore.

Lance Stroll narrowly missed out on making Q3 on a weather-disrupted Saturday in Singapore.

Heavy rain delayed the start of the final practice by 30 minutes, reducing the available track time by half.

Lance headed out for the shortened practice session on the Wet tyres to put in 11 laps with his best lap time of 2.00.373 to finish the session in sixth position.

Despite the rain passing, the track remained damp for qualifying and Lance took to the track on the Intermediate tyres, setting a 1.56.997 on his first run to take him into

fourth in the timings.

Switching to a fresh set of Intermediates, Lance was unable to complete his final flying lap but the Canadian still secured his spot into Q2.

Lance took another set of fresh Intermediates for the start of the Q2 session as the track continued to dry.

Completing only one flying lap on the Intermediates, Lance delivered a 1.54.211 before pitting to switch into the Soft tyres.

Despite improving on the first two sectors, Lance spun at Turn 16, which was wetter than the other parts of the circuit due to recent resurfacing, and was unable to

improve his time to end qualifying in 12th place.

Lance Stroll – Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One™ Team Driver

“The switch to slicks in Q2 was a gamble today, but it looked like it was going to be the right call. However, I locked up into Turn 16, where it was still wet, after being a second up on my previous best. I still think it was the right thing to do. It is always challenging in these conditions, where you are having to judge how much grip will be at the corner before you arrive there, especially with parts of the circuit having a different surface to other sections. We have good pace to be able to challenge for points tomorrow and I am confident that we will be in the mix for the top 10.”
