Lance Stroll took P14 in Formula One’s first-ever F1 Sprint ahead of the British Grand Prix.

Lance Stroll took P14 in Formula One’s first-ever F1 Sprint ahead of the British Grand Prix.

As a result of the revised F1 Sprint format, Lance had to make the most of limited practice time in the second session.

Lance completed runs on both the Medium and Hard Pirelli tyres as focus turned towards the Grand Prix, finishing the morning in P18.

Saturday afternoon’sF1Sprint set the grid for Sunday’s race.

Lance started F1 Sprint from P15, making a good start to move into P14 after an incident between Williams’sGeorge Russell and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz.

During the opening stages of the race, Lance was able to keep Sainz behind him.

With drivers unwilling to take big risks and damage their chances for Sunday’s Grand Prix, the race settled into a compact but stable order.

Lance therefore secured P14 for the Grand Prix.

“It was good to make up a little bit of ground in the Sprint, but I think we are still searching for the optimal car balance. It was challenging to make up any further places as the midfield bunched up and we ended up in a long train of cars. The positive is that the short race gives us more relevant data to go over and look to find the improvements we need. It is a long race tomorrow; anything can happen, plus the heat will be a factor, as well as the free choice of tyres, so I am looking forward to coming back stronger tomorrow.”

The British Grand Prix will get underway on Sunday July 18 at 3pm BST.
