Lance Stroll ended both Hungarian Grand Prix practice sessions in P10 as Formula One edges closer towards the summer shutdown.

Lance started the morning session on the Hard Pirelli tyres, moving himself into P14 in the early stages of the day, as the field focused on clearing a racing line on the dusty track surface

With less than 20 minutes remaining, the session was briefly red flagged after a crash for AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda. Thankfully, the Japanese driver was unharmed.

As FP1 got underway again, Lance switched to the Soft tyres before re-joining the track for the remainder of the session.

The Canadian driver delivered a 1:18.755 lap time to move into P10, where he ended the session.

In FP2, Lance began the session on the Medium tyres, managing to move P9 after 12 minutes of the session.

He then switched to the Soft tyres to lap in 1:18.320, movingP4 after 20 minutes.

Lance then ended the session in 10th as the field began to focus on longer runs in preparation for Sunday’s Grand Prix.

Lance Stroll – Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One™ Team Driver

“It was really close out there between the teams, which is to be expected at the Hungaroring. It is always great fun to drive this track, so I am happy to be back. We have learned a lot today – particularly with the tyres. There was quite a lot of degradation in the long runs in FP2, which is often the case in Hungary. We will go away and look into it, because tyres and strategy can be really influential here. I felt good in the car over a single lap, but there are always areas to improve. It has been a good start to the weekend and I am looking forward to qualifying tomorrow. It could be especially exciting if we get some rain, too.”

Lance will be back on track for the final free practice session of the weekend on Saturday July 31 from 11:30am BST.
