Lance eighth as Styrian Grand Prix weekend begins

Lance Stroll ended both Styrian Grand Prix practice session in P8 as Formula One returned to the Red Bull Ring.

Lance was quick to join the short but undulating circuit, climbing into P5 within the opening 10 minutes of the hour-long FP1 session.

The Canadian driver completed 33 laps of the 4.3km track, and a 1:06.584 effort leading him to end FP1 in P8.

In FP2, Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One™ Team were the first to begin short runs on the Soft tyre, and Lance briefly led the times with a 1.06.079 lap time.

Lance would later move onto race runs on the Medium tyre and his original effort proved good enough for P8.

“The car felt good from the first lap and both sessions were positive for us. We know where we can make some improvements, such as the balance in the low-speed corners, so we will go away tonight and review the data to see where we can find some further improvements. There has been a lot of talk about rain, but it only slightly drizzled at times today, so it was not really a factor. I love driving in wet conditions and it always mixes up the field - so I will not complain if we get some rain tomorrow or Sunday.”

Lance will be back on track for FP3 of the Styrian Grand Prix on Saturday June 26 from 11am BST.
