Lance will start the United States Grand Prix from 13th despite a challenging qualifying session in Austin.

In the final practice session, the entire grid made a steady start to proceedings with no one venturing out until 20 minutes into FP3.

Lance opted to run Soft tyres for FP3, finishing the morning in P16.

For Q1, Lance took to the track immediately in order to avoid traffic, setting a 1.35.983 on his first run to top the timings before returning to the pits.

As the rest of the field began to put in their first flying laps, Lance was pushed down into P13 and on the cusp of elimination.

Lance returned to the track for a final charge to secure a Q2 place.

Unfortunately, a spin for Antonio Giovinazzi brought out the double-waved yellow flags, preventing Lance was improving on his previous time and securing P16.

Due to several grid penalties, Lance will start the US Grand Prix from P13 on the grid.

“It was frustrating to exit qualifying early because I think we had the pace to achieve more. During my final lap in Q1, [Antonio] Giovinazzi spun in front of me and the double yellow flags at Turn Two ruined my lap at the end of the session. There are a number of cars taking grid penalties, so it remains to be seen where I will line up for the race. Wherever we start, we will fight hard to come away with something tomorrow.”

The US Grand Prix will take place from 8 PM BST on Sunday, October 24.
