Lance ended Friday practice in 16th ahead of Formula One’s inaugural Miami Grand Prix.

Aiming to maximise track time, Lance immediately joined the circuit on a set of Soft Pirelli tyres as he began acquainting himself with the brand-new track.

Lance set his benchmark lap time of 1.39.737 early in the session before quickly improving to 1.34.638 and into 11th position.

A red flag due to a crash for Valtteri Bottas halted the session as his Alfa Romeo car was retrieved.

Once the track was cleared, Lance produced his best lap time of the session, a 1.33.576, to end  first practice in 16th.

In FP2, Lance opted to run the Medium tyres early on and delivered a 1.32.906 benchmark.

In the early stages of the session, the Canadian moved up to 13th position as he continued to familiarise himself with the circuit.

Despite two red flags caused by Carlos Sainz Jr and Nicholas Latifi, Lance amassed 22 laps, posting his best lap time of 1.31.621 to end the day in 16th position.

“Going to a new venue is always fun and they have created an interesting track here in Miami that offers a good driving challenge. Turns Four to Seven are a fun sequence of corners and allow you to attack. The sessions were disrupted with a few red flags, which is never ideal when you are learning a new track, but we did what we could. The energy around this weekend has been awesome so far and I am excited for qualifying tomorrow when dealing with traffic on a busy track will be especially challenging.”
