Lance Stroll classified 13th at the end of Friday’s practice proceedings ahead of the 2022 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Lance began the first practice session of the weekend on a set of Soft compound Pirelli tyres to put in his benchmark time of 1.54.602 before making contact with the barrier at Turn 15.

After a quick check-over of the car, he returned to the track and went on to improve his lap time by over four seconds with a 1.50.862 run.

Switching to the Medium tyres for the remainder of the session, Lance continued to improve to put in his best time of the session, a 1.47.847, to place 12th.

In FP2, the Canadian alternated between the Medium and Soft tyres throughout the one-hour session.

An error forced Lance to take to the escape road at Turn 15 although he was able to rejoin the session without any damage or disruption.

He amassed 26 laps of the Azerbaijani circuit to put in a 1.44.874 personal best to end the day in 13th position.

“We had a successful day of practice and have already learned a lot and achieved some good lap times ready for the rest of the weekend. Although I had a brush with the barrier, thankfully it did not affect our running as nothing was broken, so I managed to get away with it. It was all part of getting into the rhythm of the circuit and finding the limits. I really enjoy this track and I think it is a fun challenge, so I am very much looking forward to getting back out here tomorrow.”
