Lance is targeting a strong Saturday performance as Formula One began the 2021 Spanish Grand Prix weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Lance is targeting a strong Saturday performance as Formula One began the 2021 Spanish Grand Prix weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

After a challenging weekend in Portugal, Lance and his Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One™ Team are regrouping as they go into this weekend.

After debuting new aero parts on the AMR21 in Portugal, Lance continued to evaluate the upgrades in Spain.

In FP1, the Canadian driver put in 25 laps of the 4.6km Spanish circuit to deliver a 1.19.429 lap time to take P10 in the session, comparing closely with his team-mate Sebastian Vettel in P8.

During FP2, despite the hot and windy conditions on track, Lance completed 29 laps, just under half-race distance, to finish in P14 with a 1.19.134 lap time.

Lance and his team will be looking to improve as they aim for a good qualifying result on Saturday.

“That was a really busy Friday covering lots of laps and learning about the car. Even though it was windy and hot out there, I felt comfortable, and we did some useful work today. It is a case of continuing to understand the car and the new parts we have introduced, which seem to have taken us in a good direction. Today’s times showed just how close the grid will be here, and it is never easy to overtake on this track, so we have got to make sure we have a strong Saturday and hook up the laps when it matters.”

Lance will be on track for FP3 on Saturday May 8 from 11AM BST.
