Positive Friday in Silverstone for Lance

Lance Stroll made a strong start to Formula One’s 2022 British Grand Prix weekend, ending Friday practice in 10th position.

Lance Stroll made a strong start to Formula One’s 2022 British Grand Prix weekend, ending Friday practice in 10th position.

With the rain setting in moments before FP1 started, Lance took to the track on a set of Intermediate Pirelli tyres 10 minutes into the session.

On his first run, the Canadian put himself into second position with a 1.51.243 before returning to the pits.

As the weather cleared up and the track began to evolve, Lance donned the Soft compound tyre as he re-emerged for the final four minutes of the session.

With conditions treacherous, a loss in traction tipped Lance into a spin in Turn Nine and with his AMR22 car beached in the gravel, caused a red flag.

With only two minutes left on the clock, the session was not resumed, and Lance finished FP1 in eighth place.

Conditions improved for FP2 and Lance fitted the Medium tyre in the early stages of the session to complete 10 laps and place ninth before returning to the pits.

Re-joining the session on the Soft tyre, Lance continued to improve and delivered his best lap time, a 1.29.942, to end the day in 10th position.

Lance Stroll – Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One™ Team Driver

“I think we completed some solid running today, despite the weather. I got a good feel for the car and my first experience of the upgrades was positive. I think there are some small improvements to make as we optimise things, but we will keep pushing tonight and tomorrow morning to be ready for qualifying. It is the usual stuff - a bit of understeer here, a bit of oversteer there, but we will try and sort it out ready for tomorrow.”
