Positive Friday for Lance in Canada

Lance ended Friday practice in 12th position as Formula 1 returns to Canada for the first time in three years.

Beginning FP1 on the Medium Pirelli tyres, Lance began reacquainting himself with the iconic Canadian circuit.

Switching to the Soft compound after seven laps, Lance placed himself into fifth position with a time of 1.16.446.

The Canadian continued to improve as the session unfolded, putting in his best lap time of 1.15.877 to end the first practice session in seventh place.

In FP2, Lance took to the track on a new set of Medium tyres to place himself into 10th early in the session.

Switching onto Softs, Lance continued to improve, putting in a fastest lap of 1.15.396 to end the day in 12th position.

“It is great to return to Montreal – my home race – because we have not been here for a few years. The energy from the Canadian fans is always very special and the grandstands were full today, which is great to see.
“I am pleased with the work we did, even though my final run in FP2 was impacted by traffic, which held us back a bit. Overall, though, we took some useful steps forward with the set-up and I think we have done some of our homework for the rest of the weekend. We just need to wait and see what happens with the weather now.”
