Lance began the weekend’s first Free Practice by getting up to speed on the Medium tyre.
Midway through the session, he switched to Softs. However, a Red Flag due to gravel on track put a pause to running. The session resumed with just over 18 minutes to go, and Lance continued on the Soft tyre.
With less than 10 minutes remaining, Lance switched back to the Medium compound to conclude FP1.
Lance approached FP2 with a similar strategy to FP1. He began on the Medium tyre and pitted for Softs with half of the session remaining.
To wrap up Friday’s running, Lance switched back to the Mediums. Over the course of Friday, Lance totalled 54 laps and finished FP2 in P13.
After one lap on the Hard tyres and one lap of the Mediums, Lance spent the majority of the session on the Hards, gathering vital information ahead of Sunday's Grand Prix.
Lance's final stint of the weekend’s Free Practice sessions was on the Soft compound.
It was an unfortunate qualifying for Lance, who concluded in P17, only 0.111 seconds away from making it into Q2.
Following penalties for other drivers, Lance began the Italian Grand Prix from P16. He opted for the C3 compound, this weekend’s Hard tyre.
On the second lap, Lance overtook to move into P15, and over the course of the race, made up more positions.
After a long stint on his Hard tyres, Lance finally pitted from P8 at the end of Lap 49, switching to Softs to conclude the 53-lap race. However, reliability issues during his pitstop meant he returned to the track in P18.
Lance’s season will continue at Baku City Circuit for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, 19-21 September.
Lance Stroll, Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team, said:
"It was always going to be a tough race for us today here in Monza. We managed to make up a few positions with our tyre strategy and staying out long on that first stint.
"Unfortunately, we had some reliability issues during the pitstop at the end of the race and ended up in P18. We were hoping for a Safety Car which could have helped us at the right time to finish just about in the points but there weren't any opportunities. We will look into it and now look ahead to Baku in two weeks."
