Singapore Grand Prix

October 5, 2025

Limited opportunities under the lights

Lance finished P13 in the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix.

Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team driver, Lance Stroll, finished P13 in the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix, where he’d previously placed P14 in 2024.

Getting to grips

Lance began the weekend by running the Medium tyre. In the daytime conditions, the track temperatures were higher than they would be in Qualifying and the Grand Prix.

Throughout the session, Lance explored different ride heights and gained an understanding of how the tyres reacted to the circuit.

Midway through, he switched to the Soft compound.

Limited time in representative conditions

Free Practice Two was the only practice session of the weekend that was representative of what conditions would be like during Qualifying and the Grand Prix.

However, Red Flags throughout the session meant a total of 22 minutes was lost.

Lance analysed the Hard and Soft compounds during the session and ultimately concluded FP2 in P6 with a time of 1:31.222, including the fastest Sector Three overall.

Completing programmes in FP3

Lance was on his first flying lap of FP3 when a Red Flag paused running.

The session resumed with 35 minutes remaining, and Lance returned to the track on the Medium tyre to work on longer runs with high fuel.

For the final 10 minutes, Lance switched to the Soft tyre to complete Qualifying simulations ahead of the session later in the evening.

A challenging Qualifying

Once the sun had set on Marina Bay Street Circuit, it was time for Qualifying, where high track evolution played a role throughout the session.

Misfortune on the entry of Turn 16 resulted in a tricky exit of Turn 17 and a compromised lap for Lance. He concluded Qualifying in P17.

Making moves in the Singapore Grand Prix

Penalties for drivers ahead of him meant Lance began the Singapore Grand Prix from P15.

On the Soft compound, he gained a position on the opening lap and worked on making more overtakes throughout the opening stages.

By the midpoint of the race, Lance was still on the Soft tyre and doing well to defend from drivers behind him.

Lance stayed on the Soft compound in hopes of taking advantage of a Safety Car period, but after 38 laps on the tyre and no opportunities, he finally made his pitstop and switched to the Mediums. He returned to the track in P20.

A series of overtakes during the race's later stages meant Lance had climbed to P14 by Lap 55. A few laps later, on Lap 59, an overtake on Franco Colapinto saw Lance conclude the Singapore Grand Prix in P13.

Lance’s season will continue at Circuit of the Americas for the United States Grand Prix on 17-19 October.

Lance Stroll, Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team, said:

"No opportunities for us today: we tried to sit it out and waited for a Safety Car that never came. We managed to make the Soft tyre work for 38 laps. The Mediums in the second stint wore off quicker than expected due to traffic, overheating and fighting other cars. It could have gone better for us, but we did the best we could do and we will keep trying. We now look to Texas in two weeks' time."
