Lance will begin the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix from P10 in Imola.

Despite a red flag incident as Alpha Tauri’s Yuki Tsunoda crashed at the Variante Alta which halted Q1, Lance was able to put in a 1:15.522 to put himself into P10 and comfortably out of the elimination zone.

Despite a red flag incident as Alpha Tauri’s Yuki Tsunoda crashed at the Variante Alta which halted Q1, Lance was able to put in a 1:15.522 to put himself into P10 and comfortably out of the elimination zone.

In Q2, Lance was able to put in eight laps and deliver about another stellar lap time of 1:15.138 to place him into P10 again, out-qualifying Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, and securing the final place in Q3.

During Q3, Lance put in six laps of the historic Imola circuit. Unfortunately, his flying lap which would have placed him in P9 was scrapped after a track limit infringement which caught out many other drivers through the weekend, leaving Lance to start the race from P10 on Sunday.

Lance Stroll – Aston Martin Racing Driver

“I am pretty happy with the session, but it is a shame that my best lap was deleted in Q3. We were in ninth so that knocked me down a place. The margins for track limits are very fine and a few drivers were caught out today. I said yesterday how much I enjoy this track and the car felt really good today – as though it has really come alive this weekend. That is encouraging, but it is a very tight grid and we want to be closer to the front. We are all working hard to do that. We are not miles off and we know where we can improve. It will be interesting to see how we perform in the race because the long run pace yesterday looked similar to the teams around us. Let’s see what we can do tomorrow.”

Lance will be on track for the Emilia RomagnaGP in Imola on Sunday April 18 from 2pm BST.
