Lance Stroll ended Friday in Baku in P14 as the Azerbaijan Grand Prix returns to Formula One after a year’s absence.

After a successful weekend in Monaco, Lance and his Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One™ Team are aiming for further success at the Azerbaijani circuit.

In FP1, Lance amassed 23 laps of the twisty 6km street circuit, delivering a 1.45.234 lap time to place P13 while running on the Medium compound Pirelli tyre.

In the afternoon FP2 session, the session was affected by  yellow flag incidents as well as a red flag in the middle of the session after the Williams of Nicholas Latifi stopped on track. Despite the delays, Lance was able to put in a 1.43.812 lap time to finish the day in P14.

“It is great to be driving in Baku. It is a place that holds special memories for me and it is great fun to drive here. It is so high-speed; you are constantly close to the wall, and it is a challenge for the driver. You can gain a lot of lap time under braking because you arrive at high speeds, and getting the braking point right really helps bring a lap together. I think we made some good progress with the car today; we learned a lot about the set-up and I think we can make further gains with car balance. We will go away tonight, review it all, and try to make improvements for tomorrow.”

Lance will return to track for FP3 on Saturday June 5 from 10am BST.
