Lance ended the opening day of practice for Formula One’s Saudi Arabia Grand Prix in 14th.

Immediately wishing to explore the limits of the slightly revised Jeddah circuit, Lance took to the track on the Hard Pirelli tyres, setting his benchmark lap time of 1.36.349 on his first run.

An early red flag for debris on the track then halted running.

With 34 minutes remaining on the clock, the track was cleared, and the session resumed before Lance switched to the Soft tyre for his short runs.

The Canadian continued to improve as the session ended, finishing with a best lap time of 1.32.582 for 12th.

With more representative track conditions in FP2, Lance began his first stint on the Medium tyres witha benchmark lap of 1.33.196, before returning to the pits to switch onto Softs.

The Canadian completed 27 laps of the Jeddah Corniche circuit, setting his best lap time of 1.31. 372 to finish 14th..

“We completed plenty of laps today, tried some new things, and continue to learn how to optimise this car. FP1 is not very representative here [being run in the daytime], but it is all useful data for the coming races. Every lap is helpful at this time of year. We continued to work on the balance of the car in FP2 and did all the usual evaluation of the tyre compounds. We will crunch the info tonight to see where we can find more performance ahead of qualy.”

FP3 for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will get underway at 2pm GMT on Saturday, March 26.
