Lance completes two productive free practice sessions ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix for the 2021 Formula One season opener.

With new 60-minute practice sessions, all track time for Lance and the Aston Martin Racing team was vital to compile the data required for the weekend.

In the first session of the day, as conditions weren’t symbolic of race conditions, the focus was on gaining a better understanding of the AMR21 ahead of the opening race.

Lance completed a number of shorter stints on the Soft (C4) compound Pirelli tyres, finishing FP1 in P13 with a 1:33.233 lap time.

With FP2 taking place at a more representative time, Lance conducted most the session running Medium (C3) compound Pirelli tyres, taking advantage of cooler evening conditions.

The session ran with little interruption except for a brief yellow flag, allowing Lance to continue accumulating laps and deliver his best lap time of a 1:31.393 to take P8.

Lance Stroll – Aston Martin Racing Driver

“It was great to be back in the car today and I’m excited to get racing again.
Today was the first real indication of everyone’s performance and you can see that the middle of the grid is very close and competitive. It was a little tricky on track with high winds – a bit like it was in testing at times.
“Today’s practice sessions also remind me just how important it is to get the little details right, so we will work hard tonight and go over all the data to find improvements where we can.”
