Lance Excels with P4 Finish at the Hungarian Grand Prix

Lance Stroll put in an excellent performance to take P4 at the Hungaroring after starting from 3rd on the grid.

Lance Stroll put in an excellent performance to take P4 at the Hungaroring in changeable conditions, taking the team's best result of the season so far.

After an excellent qualifying, which saw Lance set the 3rd fastest time and line-up on the second row for the Hungarian Grand Prix, the young Canadian had a great start to move into 2nd position - just behind race leader Lewis Hamilton.

Lance then consolidated his place in the frontrunners before pitting at the end of Lap 3 to take on a set of mediums.

He then worked his way back up the order to P5 and picked off the two off-strategy Haas drivers with two impressive overtakes, both taking place on the run down to Turn 1.

Now back into top three contention, Lance did an impressive job of holding off the recovering Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas for a portion of the race.

Focusing on our own Grand Prix, Lance would then tighten his grip on P4 and ran a lonely race to the flag to score his best result of the 2020 campaign.

Lance: “I’m really happy with P4: it’s a good result and I have to thank the team for such a great job today and all weekend.
It was fun to fight Max [Verstappen] at the start of the race and run in P2 in the changeable conditions.
We actually ended up in quite a lonely race to P4, but the main thing is that we were able to score a good haul of points for the team, and so did Checo.

It was such a complex race and I’m looking forward to reviewing it and learning what we can for the races to come. We’ve had three races now and looked strong in all of them.

I think the podium was close today because we were in a big battle with Bottas and maybe we could have done things differently, but you can always say that after the race.
That’s racing and we’ve got to be happy with fourth.”

After seeing the impressive pace of Lance and the BWT Racing Point RP20, ambitions are high heading into the team's home race at Silverstone in two weeks time for the British Grand Prix.
