An early end in Las Vegas

A disappointing Saturday as Lance retired from the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team driver, Lance Stroll, retired from the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix, where he’d previously finished P15 in 2024.

Getting familiar with the track

Lance began the weekend’s first Free Practice on the Medium compound tyre. With cool temperatures and a dusty track, conditions were tricky.

In the final 20 minutes of the session, Lance switched to the Soft tyre.

He finished the session P15.

A disrupted FP2

Free Practice Two saw a light sprinkling of rain ahead of the session starting, but it didn’t amount to much.

After sitting in the garage for the first 15 minutes of the session, Lance emerged on track on the Medium tyre.

There was disruption towards the end of the session due to two red flag periods for track maintenance just after Lance had swapped onto the Soft tyres.

He was still able to gather valuable data for the team, finishing the session in P11.

Final practice

In the final Free Practice session of the weekend, the track was damp from earlier rain meaning Lance went out on track on the Intermediate tyre.

As the hour progressed, the track began to dry and allowed for Lance to switch to the Soft tyres.

He finished the session in P8.

Qualifying in the rain

With a rain shower prior to the session, Qualifying was hosted in the wet.

Lance opted to head onto the track on the full wet compound, and while his first lap time was deleted for track limits, his second flying lap saw him go to the top of the timing board.

As the track ramped up throughout Q1 lap times were coming down, including Lance’s.

He found himself in the drop zone in the last few moments, but his final flying lap moved him back to the top and he finished Q1 in P4.

The rain began to disperse in Q2 and Lance was the first driver to make the switch onto Intermediate tyres in the final 5 minutes of the session.

Unfortunately, the gamble didn’t pay off and Lance was unable to improve his lap time, securing P12 for Saturday’s race.

First corner drama

Lance began the race on the Medium tyre from P12.

A chaotic start to the race saw Lance hit by Gabriel Bortoleto into the first corner.

He had to pull over, and his race came to an end early.

Lance’s season will continue in Qatar on 28-30 November.

Lance Stroll, Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team, said:

"Unfortunately I got hit at the start of the race and that was it for me in the first corner. That's racing, these things happen and it's not fun for either Gabriel or me but he didn't do it on purpose; he's a good kid. On paper we didn't expect to be too competitive tonight and don't think much would've been possible for us. Hopefully we will show some more competitiveness next weekend. At some tracks the car comes alive and hopefully Qatar will be one of them."
