A difficult home race for Lance

Returning to racing in Montréal, Lance finished P17.

Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team driver, Lance Stroll, concluded the Canadian Grand Prix in P17 where he'd previously placed P7 in 2024.

Returning to the track

Lance made his return at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve following an injury that forced him to miss the Spanish Grand Prix.

Over the course of the three Free Practice sessions, Lance completed 55 laps. He primarily ran the C6 tyre, this weekend’s Soft compound.

Qualifying misfortune

Lance opted to use Soft tyres to begin Qualifying. A Red Flag briefly interrupted running with under six minutes to go.

When the session unpaused, Lance got back out on track. While he showed strong pace, the Red Flag meant he was only able to set one push lap on the Medium tyre compound, resulting in the tyre being outside the optimal window. Ultimately, he qualified P18.

A challenging home race

In Lance’s 175th race start, and the team’s 100th start, Lance began on the Hard compound. Following a penalty for another driver, he started the race from P17 on the grid.

At the end of Lap 24, after an overtake on Alex Albon, Lance made his first pitstop for a new set of Hards.

After 27 laps on the Hards, Lance made his second stop and changed to the Medium compound.

A Safety Car came out towards the end of the race, giving Lance the chance to pit for Softs, but the race ended under the Safety Car period.

Lance concluded the Canadian Grand Prix in P17.

His season will continue on 27-29 June with the Austrian Grand Prix.

Lance Stroll, Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team, said:

"It's been a long rough day and I'm not so pleased with this weekend overall. It was always going to be difficult starting the race from P17, but I also didn't feel like the car had the pace today to make up any positions.
"We go again in Austria in two weeks time. We will work hard to find areas of improvement in all areas until then."
