Lance will begin the Sprint from 17th position ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix.

With this weekend seeing the second Sprint format of the season, the team had only one practice session to tune their set-ups ahead of Qualifying.

Lance took to the track on a set of Medium Pirelli tyres for FP1, sitting in 16th position on his first run before improving into 12th with a time of 1.08.775.

A red flag for Lando Norris halted further running in the session, and once the session resumed, Lance improved into 10th before a brief second red flag forced a return to the pits.

Switching to the Soft tyres for the remainder of the session, Lance put in his best lap time of 1.07.431 to end FP1 in 11th.

Qualifying also took place on the Friday in this Sprint-format weekend, and in Q1, Lance took to the track on Soft tyres, setting a 1.07.140 to place him into the top 10. He was pushed down the timings as the rest of the grid put in their flying laps.

Switching to a fresh set of Soft tyres, Lance put in a 1.06.847 – his best lap time of the session – but could only manage 17th on the grid for Saturday’s Sprint.

“It is always a challenge here with the track limits. But despite that, we did not quite have the pace to make it through into Q2 today. Obviously, we are going to try and recover some places in the Sprint tomorrow, and our pace is looking okay after Free Practice earlier, so there is still plenty to play for this weekend.”
